(AP) ? More than 4,000 Russian singers have performed outdoors in St. Petersburg with the aim of setting a world record for the largest choir.

The 4,335 singers of all ages and from nearly all of the city's professional and amateur choirs sang from the steps of St. Isaac's Cathedral before thousands of spectators under an intermittent rain.

The spectators, who closed their umbrellas with the start of Sunday's performance, sang along during the one-hour concert.

The 14 songs performed included some of the most popular and patriotic songs of Russia and the Soviet Union, including a hymn celebrating the country's victory in World War II.

Yulia Alshenina, whose daughter sang in the choir, said the concert was so moving she could not hold back her tears.

Target goes hunting in Silicon Valley, following Wal-Mart

By Alistair Barr

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Target Corp said on Friday it opened a new San Francisco office to track down technology companies that can help the second-largest U.S. retailer grow its online commerce business.

Target's Technology Innovation Center is run by David Newman, an executive who spent six years at the online business of Wal-Mart Stores Inc , which has had a major presence in Silicon Valley for several years.

"Partnership is in our DNA and early-stage companies can sense that and are proving to be very willing to partner and co-develop," said Newman.

Many retailers are pouring money into new technology to help them catch up with Amazon.com Inc , which has become the world's largest retailer by grabbing market share from traditional bricks-and-mortar stores.

Mobile commerce, powered by smartphone-wielding shoppers, is a particular focus of retailers because this technology has the potential to revitalize in-store sales.

Target's San Francisco office will focus on "core commerce" initiatives, such as speeding up the company's website. However, it also aims to bring more digital shopping experiences into the retailer's physical stores through smartphones, Newman said.

One area Target is exploring is "augmented reality," which uses smartphone cameras to give shoppers a digital view of store aisles and show them related products, Newman said.

That technology is still a long way off, but Newman noted that Target is already working with eBay Inc and Google Inc , two Silicon Valley giants, on same-day delivery tests.

Target also recently began testing a service that allows its employees to order products online and pick them up in the retailer's stores. The company plans to roll this out to customers this Fall.

Wal-Mart's e-commerce offices, south of San Francisco, have churned out a slew of new online and mobile technology in recent years and these efforts might be showing early signs of success.

First-quarter e-commerce sales jumped 30 percent from a year earlier, Wal-Mart reported earlier this week.

"The company seems to be gaining traction in several geographies with different technologies such as Scan & Go, Ship from Store and increased mobile capabilities," Robert Drbul, a retail analyst at Barclays, wrote in a note to investors on Thursday.

Wide ranging studies span bench to bedside

Sophia Antipolis, 16 May 2013: A packed programme is promised for EHRA EUROPACE2013 meeting, taking place in Athens, Greece, June 23 to 26, with the results of ten late breaking clinical trials and over 1000 original abstracts featured, offering exciting opportunities for news stories. The biennial meeting, which for the first time represents a collaboration between the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) of the ESC and the ESC Working Groups on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology and e Cardiology, promises to be more wide ranging than ever before. An eagerly anticipated news event will be the launch of the 2013 ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines on Cardiac Pacing and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy.

EHRA Scientific Programme Committee chairperson Professor Andreas Goette, said, "This is the first time we've ever featured late breaking trials. Journalists will have the opportunity to hear the results of really cutting edge studies, and to learn about the new Guidelines which are likely to have a tremendous impact on the European health care system."

The new partnership between EHRA and the Working groups on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology and e Cardiology, he added, emphasized the multidisciplinary and translational approach currently taking place in the diagnosis and therapy of arrhythmias and conduction disturbance. "Our programme now encompasses the entire breadth of arrhythmogenesis, from cell to bedside," he said.

The meeting, which spans four days, features over 110 individual sessions, and 18 satellite symposia, is likely to be attended by around 6,000 clinical electro physiologists, general cardiologists, family doctors, basic scientists, computer specialists, cath lab technicians and nurses.

Highlights of the late breaking clinical trials, to be presented on Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June include:

  • Gap-AF - AFNET 1 Trial, looking to see whether complete electrical isolation of pulmonary veins is superior to incomplete electrical isolation in patients with drug-refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF).
  • SARA trial, comparing the effectiveness and safety of catheter ablation versus anti arrhythmic drug therapy in the treatment of persistent AF.
  • PREFER in AF study which will provide a contemporary snap shot of AF management across Europe.
  • The Leipzig Heart Center AF Ablation Registry monitoring the incidence and risk factors for thromboembolic events after catheter ablation for AF.
  • The CLEPSYDRA study, using algorithms to monitor for early signals of decompensation events in patients with heart failure.
  • RFAVT trial, which will assess mortality for patients treated with Radiofrequency ablations as first line therapy without implantation of an ICD.

Altogether, a record breaking 1084 abstract have been accepted (out of a total of 1624 submissions) to be presented at the EHRA EUROPACE2013. In addition to oral abstract sessions and moderated poster sessions, new for this year will be 'flash' abstract presentations where related abstract topics are grouped together. "The idea here is to provide the audience with a lot of information on specific topics, like cardiac resynchronisation therapy or implantable cardioverter defibrillators, in a really short space of time. It should enable delegates to get up to speed on the latest developments quickly," explained Goette.

Interesting abstracts to watch out for include:

  • Abstract no 41049, exploring how well electro physiologists are able to estimate quality of life in patients with AF.
  • Abstract no 41271, a study in over 57,000 Danish participants looking at the association of consumption of marine n-3PUFA with AF.
  • Abstract 40935: A case study showing how extensive cola consumption resulted in potassium loss, QT prolongation and a potentially life threatening arrhythmia.
  • Abstract no 40762: exploring 'mad honey poisoning' where consumption of honey containing grayanotoxin, from the pollen and nectar of rhododendron species, led to atrioventricular block.
  • Abstract no 40760 suggesting that autoimmune dermatological disorders are associated with increased risk of developing AF.

Undoubtedly a major news event will be the launch of the ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines on Cardiac Pacing & CRT which will be presented at EHRA EUROPACE2013 on Tuesday 25 June. Professor Michele Brignole, chairman of the Guideline Task Force, said, "These Guidelines, which have been mediated by a team of 70 experts, represent the synthesis of the latest knowledge and state of the art in cardiac pacing and cardiac resynchronization therapy. They should help place all the studies that have been published over the last six years in context."

Sessions that might form the basis for topical features include: remote monitoring of patients with ICDs; what electrophysiologists need to know about renal denervation; new technologies in the treatment of complex arrhythmias; new types of antiarrhythmic drugs for atrial fibrillation and the home monitoring of cardiac devices.

Two summits, where related sessions on lead management and the cardiogenetics of arrhythmias are being brought together, will also be featured. "The idea here is that delegates can spend the day immersing themselves in these areas and getting completely updated," explained Goette.

Other key events will include an update on the ICD for Life initiative, looking to boost prophylactic implantation of ICD's in Eastern Europe, and an update of 10 years of the German Atrial Fibrillation Network (AFNET). In fact EHRA EUROPACE2013 promises to be a meeting of anniversaries, with EHRA celebrating its 10th Anniversary of becoming an ESC association.

Can't Garden? Grow Herbs! - Keeper of the Home

By?Diana, Contributing Writer

A great kitchen garden begins with herbs.

Fresh herbs add flavor and freshness to a dish ? they add color and vibrance. ?Fresh herbs can turn the ordinary into something spectacular - like this eggplant bechamel.

Besides their wonderful flavoring to dishes, one of my favorite things about fresh herbs is how incredibly easy they are to grow at home. ?Even if you've never started a garden before, or lack the space, growing herbs will make you feel like a master gardener!

That's because most herbs are perennial.

That means they come back year after year with absolutely no effort on your part.?Some herbs can actually be invasive, like mint, so you'll want to make sure to plant them in an area that you don't mind them taking off.

Some of my favorite herbal perennials to grow are chamomile, mint, chives,?lavender, dill, oregano, thyme, marjoram, sage, tarragon, and?sorrel. ?I have most of these growing in and around my edible landscaping at home; however, I plan on transplanting some of them to containers on my patio this year.

That's another great thing about herbs: you can plant them in ground or in containers. ?If you plan on drying herbs to perserve, like chamomile, I'd suggest finding a good place for them in ground where you don't mind them expanding year after year.

If this will be your first year planting herbs, one tip to save you money on your herb garden is to take stem cuttings from established plants and propagate them at home.

That's right, you can simply snip a stem and plant it. ?There's no need to pay for a plant when one stem will take off right away!

As you can see, growing herbs is simple.? As an encouragement, don't feel like you need to grow every single herb that there is. ?Start with a few of your favorites, then expand your herb garden year after year.

Get better quality video using cellular data with latest BBC iPlayer update

For UK folks, the BBC iPlayer app is a must have if you like watching TV on the go. Perhaps the biggest source of frustration, though, has always been the somewhat lacklustre video quality should you be watching over a cellular connection, be that 3G or LTE. Fortunately, the BBC has taken action and is pushing an update into the App Store that promises to remedy the issue.

Providing your cellular connection will support it, the BBC now promises that you will enjoy the same video playback quality that you would otherwise enjoy over WiFi. Bold claims, for sure. Beyond this, there's a bunch of stability improvements thrown in as well as a link to download their iPlayer Radio app.

Grab it now from the App Store and let us know if you're seeing any marked improvement in that video quality.

Business sales keep pressure on USD | ForexLive

The business sale part of the inventory figures fell 1.1% in March which is the biggest drop since June 2012.

The inventory to sales ration rose to 1.29 from 1.28.

In the preview I mentioned that a rise in inventories is not good if sales don?t match and the economic effect is the same when inventories fall added with poor sales .

New Orleans Mother?s Day parade shooting: Police seek man seen in surveillance footage

A man appears to open fire on the crowd. (YouTube/NOPD)

Police in New Orleans have released surveillance footage of one of at least three suspects wanted in connection with the afternoon shooting that injured 19 people at a Mother's Day parade.

In the footage, posted to YouTube, a man wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants can be seen standing on the side of a street in the city's 7th Ward. The man appears to open fire on the crowd, which scatters, and the man flees.

Police believe shots were fired from different guns, and three people were seen by officers running away from the scene in the 1400 block of Frenchmen Street at North Villere. One "was seen running on Frenchmen towards North Claiborne then unknown," the New Orleans Police Department?s Public Information Office said in a release. That man was described as "an African-American male approximately 18 to 22 years-old wearing a white T shirt and blue jean shorts."

Police say most of the victims?10 men, seven women, a 10-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl?were only grazed by gunfire, but three of them arrived at the hospital in critical condition and underwent immediate surgery, according to NOLA.com. The 10-year-olds "had graze wounds to the body and are in good condition," police said.

A separate, choppy video posted to the social video sharing app Vine appears to capture the moment shots were fired.

New Orleans Police and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to "the arrest and indictment of the person(s) responsible for this crime."

Police also warned that anyone withholding information or helping "harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment" could be charged as an accessory.

The annual parade was attended by about 400 people led by a contingent of police officers.

"The specialness of the day doesn't appear to interrupt the relentless drumbeat of violence," New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said at a news conference late Sunday outside a hospital where the victims were being treated. "These kinds of incidents are not going to go unanswered. We're going to be very, very aggressive. There were hundreds of people out there today. So somebody knows who did this, and the way we're going to stop the violence together in this city is everybody come together."

New Orleans has a history of street violence, and federal officials say there is no indication the shooting was an act of terrorism.

"It's strictly an act of street violence in New Orleans," Mary Beth Romig, a spokeswoman for FBI New Orleans, told the Associated Press.

"All innocent bystanders got hit," Shannon Roberts?who said her nephew, niece and cousin were each shot?told NOLA.com from a hospital waiting room. "The city needs to stop the violence. It's hurting our families."

Master regulator that drives majority of lymphoma discovered

May 13, 2013 ? A soon-to-be-tested class of drug inhibitors were predicted to help a limited number of patients with B-cell lymphomas with mutations affecting the EZH2 protein. However, a research team, led by investigators at Weill Cornell Medical College, now report that these agents may, in fact, help a much broader cross section of lymphoma patients.

The study, reported in Cancer Cell, found that the EZH2 protein the drug agents inhibited is a powerful regulatory molecule in B-cells, and a key driver of cancer in these immune cells.

The study's lead investigator, Weill Cornell Medical College's Dr. Ari Melnick, suggests that combining an EZH2 inhibitor with another related targeted therapy may offer a much improved treatment for follicular lymphoma, a cancer that currently has no cure, as well as a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy for at least a third of diffuse large B-cell lymphomas. Because these two lymphomas account for 70 percent of adult lymphomas, Dr. Melnick believes the new therapy could potentially help a broad cross section of lymphoma patients.

"Our research indicates that these inhibitors will be remarkably effective. I am very optimistic," says Dr. Melnick, the Gebroe Professor of Hematology/Oncology, professor of medicine and director of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Center for Biomedical and Physical Sciences at Weill Cornell. "Researchers had thought EZH2 inhibitors would only help patients with a mutation in their EZH2 gene, which represents a small subset of lymphoma patients. What we found is that a majority of lymphomas turn out to be dependent on normal EZH2, not just mutated EZH2."

Tumor Cells Depend on the EZH2 Master Regulator

The new study was aimed at understanding what normal as well as mutated EZH2 does within B-cells -- basic information that remained unknown despite more than a decade of research into the protein.

The role of B-cells (white blood cells known as B-lymphocytes) is to produce antibodies against invading microbes. What the researchers discovered is that EZH2 is required in order for the immune system to generate germinal center B-cells, which are the cells that make the most powerful type of antibodies.

Germinal center B-cells divide extremely quickly and try to create within them the high affinity antibodies that will be beneficial to fight off invading infections. This process happens constantly because of our exposure to microorganisms.

"Most B-cell lymphomas arise from germinal center B-cells -- germinal centers are the engine for formation of lymphomas," says Dr. Melnick. "The reason for this is because germinal center B-cells divide very, very quickly while at the same time mutating their antibody genes. Unfortunately, many other genes get mutated when this happens, which can eventually result in lymphoma formation."

It turns out that the behavior of germinal center B-cell is orchestrated by EZH2, Dr. Melnick discovered. "EZH2 is a master regulator protein that turns off the brakes that prevent cell division, so it allows cells to divide without stopping," he says.

EZH2 also has a second function, which Dr. Melnick calls "surprising and perhaps even more important. It prevents germinal cells from transitioning to antibody-secreting cells," he says. "Indeed, in the normal immune system EZH2 prevents B-cells from exiting germinal centers so that these cells can continue to undergo sustained rapid cell division, which continues until the immune system says to stop. Then EZH2 goes away, and B-cells can develop into antibody-secreting cells, which send antibodies into the circulation to fight off infection."

Interestingly, mutations of EZH2 cause it to be even more efficient at promoting germinal center B-cell division and permanently keep them locked in this behavior, Dr. Melnick says. But he adds that most lymphomas that are derived from germinal cell B-cells are dependent on EZH2, whether normal or mutated, to sustain growth.

"Germinal center cells absolutely require EZH2 and the lymphomas that arise from germinal center cells inherit that need regardless of whether they have mutations," Dr. Melnick says. "We discovered that it is not just the small percentage of patients with EZH2 mutations who are candidates for these inhibitors. It is actually most of the lymphomas that originate from germinal center B-cells -- and that represents the majority of patients."

The researchers report the development of a novel and highly specific EZH2 inhibitor, tested its effects against large panels of lymphoma cells and found that it works particularly well against germinal center-derived lymphomas regardless of whether or not they have EZH2 mutations.

"The case of EZH2 exemplifies a critically important emerging concept in cancer -- that tumor cells are dependent on the master regulators that are required to sustain the normal cell type from which they originate," Dr. Melnick adds.

According to researchers, another implication of the study is that it may be possible to combine an EZH2 inhibitor with a drug that targets BCL2, which is also in clinical testing, to achieve a more powerful synergistic effect.

"EZH2 and BCL2 mutations tend to occur together in germinal center derived lymphomas. In our report, we show that indeed these two genes cooperate to drive lymphoma formation from germinal center B-cells, and so a combination therapy that inhibits both genes might offer a very powerful therapy," says Dr. Melnick. "Indeed, combining EZH2 inhibitors and BCL2 inhibitors had a much greater effect in cells and in animal models of lymphomas than either drug alone." These results pave the way for translation of combinatorial-targeted therapy for patients with incurable lymphomas.

"Gatsby," outpacing expectations, came in at No. 2 behind holdover "Iron Man 3," which took in $72.5 million in its second weekend for a domestic cume of $284.9 million. Overseas, the Disney and Marvel Studios goliath grossed $89.3 million for an international total of $664.1 million and worldwide haul of nearly $950 million.

Luhrmann's 3D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald?s novel is easily the Australian director's best opening to date and also reinforces Leonardo DiCaprio's box-office prowess among the female set. The actor, playing the iconic and mysterious Jay Gatsby, stars opposite Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton.

scary Monster - ArticleSnatch.com

Shedinja (Japanese: Nukenin) is a dual-type Bug/Ghost Pokmon.

It is considered a "special" evolution of Nincada, appearing only when Nincada evolves into Ninjask, starting at level 20, and there is an extra space in the player's party and the player has an extra Pok Ball. An extra Pok Ball is not necessary to obtain Shedinja in Generation III.

Shedinja's body is based on a cicada's shed exoskeleton. Therefore, its body is completely hollow (it possesses no internal organs). The shell consists of chitin and is entirely incapable of movement. As it is the shed shell of a fully developed Ninjask, it has a similar shape to the latter. Shedinja's entire body is brown in color; the abdomen is of a darker shade. There are four protrusions where Ninjask's limbs were growing. What appears to be its eyes are actually slits; perhaps formerly for the Ninjask the shell housed to look through. Shedinja has one pair of what appear to be tattered "wings" on its back, which is actually where the exoskeleton was torn by Ninjask to break free of the shell. Between its "wings" there is a hole, out of which the Ninjask escaped. Each "wing" divides into three smaller pieces. These "wings" actually don't perform any function, as Shedinja's body is immobile and levitates. Two horizontal lines circle its abdomen. A white halo constantly floats above its head.

It is rumored that if a human peers into its back, the human's soul will be stolen. This rumor was never mentioned in the anime.

Shedinja appear to be wise and intelligent Pokmon. They Fish Games are also very quiet and stealthy, like a ninja. They are protective over Ninjask but otherwise very http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Football-Games little is known about them.

Shedinja probably live in forests, anywhere where there are Nincada and Ninjask and many other bug Pokmon.

Shedinja made its debut appearance in The Princess and the Togepi under the ownership of Colonel Hansen. It also appeared in A Togepi Mirage!

It has made a number of cameo Little Kid Games appearances in some Pokmon Contests, such as in The Saffron Con.

Shedinja first appeared when Aqua Admin Amber, having been deprived of his Pokmon after being abandoned by Archie, borrows a Nincada from his comrade Shelly, which then immediately evolves into a Ninjask, putting Wattson in quite a pinch Race Games with the incredible speed it gained by the minute. Although the old Gym Leader eventually managed to defeat it, a Shedinja formed from the shell Ninjask shed and attacked him from behind, sending him sinking into the ocean.

Several more volumes down the line, both Emerald and Greta used Shedinja to exploit its Wonder Guard Ability, as well as the fact that it has one base HP, requiring no items to resuscitate itself.

Shedinja can also be damaged by Struggle and any of the Shadow moves from Pokmon Colosseum and Pokmon XD. The moves Beat Up, Future Sight, and Doom Desire can hit Shedinja prior where appear Prexus to Generation V.

In the Pokmon Mystery Dungeon series, the standard A-button tackle will do one HP damage. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, foe Shedinja always has a maximum of 5 HP, whereas in Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, foe Shedinja always has a maximum of 10 HP. However, as a team member, Shedinja's HP is not capped.

Note: In Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of pokemon Time and Explorers of Darkness, Shedinja will not be mentioned when evolving Nincada, but will subsequently appear in Chimecho's Assembly.

Shedinja has many unique characteristics derived from the fact that it has only 1 HP:

It is based on the shed husk that cicadas leave behind when they finish their metamorphosis into adults. Concerning its species' ninja theme, it also appears to be a reference to the fabled ninjutsu technique utsusemi, where a ninja uses a dummy or replica of itself to evade and escape from threats, and where its namesake also alludes to the cast off shed husk of a cicada. It may also be based on a guardian angel, due to the halo-like object floating above its head. Its Ability Wonder Guard probably alludes to this.

Shedinja is a combination of shed (to cast off skin or exoskeleton) and ninja.

Nukenin is a combination of nukegara (casting off skin) and ninja. Nukenin is also a term describing ninja who have abandoned their clan and lord.

Damage modification is a system of multipliers used to change the damage dealt in a battle. These modifiers affect how the damage is calculated by multiplying the move's base power in various ways. These modifiers range from doubling to halving and even negating the damage done.

Since each move has a type, its effectiveness is largely determined by the targeted Pokmon's type. Moves can have regular effectiveness or be super effective, not very effective, or not effective at all. The effectiveness of types against one another has varied among generations, see this page for its Generation I iteration and this page for the current model.

When a move is super effective, it inflicts double the damage it would normally do. For example, a move like Megahorn used against a Psychic-type Pokmon will be super effective because Bug-type moves are super effective against Psychic-types. This effect can stack up; for example, a Pokmon that is Rock/Ground and is hit by a Water-type move like Surf will be damaged four times as much by the move as a Normal-type Pokmon would be, because both Rock and Ground Pokmon are weak to Water moves.

When a move is not very effective, or resistant, it deals half of the damage it would normally do. This works exactly like super effective moves, and can stack up. For example, a Steel/Rock Pokmon will be damaged by a quarter of the amount by a Normal-type move. Likewise, a Normal/Flying Pokmon hit by a Fighting-type move will be damaged normally, as Normal's weakness to Fighting is canceled out by Flying's resistance to it.

When a move is not effective, it does not damage the Pokmon at all and that Pokmon is "immune" play with fake pokemon Shellith to all attacks of that type; the move will yield a message of "It doesn't affect the Pokmon..." Certain types are also immune to specific status moves, such as Ground-type Pokmon being immune to the Electric-type Thunder Wave, or Grass-type Pokmon being immune to Leech Seed.

A move will sometimes inflict a critical hit against another Pokmon. This will double the damage done prior to type effectiveness calculations.

Critical hits ignore stat modifiers, even if beneficial to the attacker. In this generation only, Tetris Game the probability of landing a critical hit is based on a Pokmon's base Speed.
Specifically, for a normal move such as Tackle, the probability of landing a critical hit is:

For example, Clefable, with a base Speed of 60, has roughly a 11.7% chance of landing a critical hit on a normal move.
For moves with a high critical hit ratio such as Slash, the probability of landing a critical Pokemon Crystal Online hit is:

For example, Clefable, with a base Speed of 60, has roughly a 93.8% chance of landing a critical hit on a move with a high critical hit ratio.

If the result of the second formula equals or exceeds 100% (for Pokmon with a base Speed of 64 or higher), then the result is rounded down to 255/256 or about 99.6%.

Focus Energy and Dire Hit were intended to quadruple the critical hit rate, but due to a glitch, they instead have no effect if the user is faster than the opponent, or prevent the user from getting a critical hit (0/511 chance) if the user is slower than the opponent. This was fixed in Pokmon Stadium.

In Pokmon Stadium only, the probability of landing a critical hit with a move that does not have a high critical hit ratio after using Focus Energy or a Dire Hit is:

Starting in Generation II, the chance of a critical hit is no longer based on the Pokmon's speed, but rather the chance is the same for each Pokmon. Similar to stats, there are temporary in-battle stages used to calculate the probability a particular move will be a critical hit. The stages are as follows:

An attacking move will always start out in stage 1. There are several ways to increase a move's stage (and therefore, chance that it will be a critical hit), as detailed in the table below.

Even though it is possible to get a stage higher than 5, it will still only have a 50% chance of landing in a critical hit. The effects of Focus Energy, the Lansat Berry, and the several versions of Dire Hit cannot stack with themselves or each other. Additionally, if the move used is Storm Throw or Frost Breath, it will always result in a critical hit. On the other hand, if the target Pokmon has the Ability Battle Armor or Shell Armor, or is under the effect of Lucky Chant, a move will never be a critical hit, no matter the stage.

When a move scores a critical hit, damage is calculated based on either the modified or unmodified attack and defense stats, whichever is more advantageous to the attacker. For example, an attacker who has used Swords Dance and then makes a critical hit will get the benefit of the increased Attack, while one affected by Charm will use its normal Attack score. Likewise, if the attacker uses Screech on the foe and then makes a critical hit, it will still get the benefit of the decreased Defense like normal then count the critical hit into damage calculation. Another example would be if a team had Light Screen or Reflect on it and the attacker scored a critical on the team with the certain wall; the defense added by the wall would then be ignored, and the attacker would do double damage. However, it does not ignore modifiers caused by items or Abilities such as Eviolite, Defeatist, or Slow Start, nor does it ignore the attack reduction caused by a burn.

A move used by a Pokmon that is of the same type as the move itself will do 150% of its normal damage, such as a Fire-type move used by a Fire-type Pokmon. Dual-type Pokmon will receive this bonus for both of their types, and a Pokmon whose type can change in-battle will receive the bonus for whatever type they are when they make the move. Pokmon with Adaptability have this increased to 200% (an effective boost of ~33.3%).

Water-type and Fire-type moves' damage will be modified by rain and sunshine. If Rain Dance causes a downpour, Water-type moves will do 50% more damage and Fire-type moves will do 50% less damage. If Sunny Day causes harsh sunlight, Fire-type moves will do 50% more damage and Water-type moves will do 50% less damage.

Abilities come in a wide variety, and have various effects on damage modification. These effects range from increasing and decreasing the power of moves of a specific type, granting immunities, and even changing the power of moves affected by other damage modifiers. These Abilities include:

Some held items increase the power of an attack by a small percentage. Most of these items boost attacks only of a certain type by 20%. Some items can also modify damage by boosting the attacker's offensive stats or the victim's defensive stats. Some Berries also weaken an opponent's super-effective move.

Other held items that modify damage include:

A number of other variables can affect the amount of damage caused by an attack. Pokemon Heroes

Every time a regular attack is executed, the actual damage caused is adjusted by a random multiplier - an integer percentage between 85% and 100%.

In Generations I and II, the random modifier does not have uniform probability for all percentages between 85 and 100. This is because the computer will generate a random number from 217 to 255 (217 is about 85.09% of 255), multiply it by 100, and then divide it by 255, to get the random number from 85 to 100 that the computer will divide by 100 to get the final adjustment.

As a result, the odd numbers from 85 to 89 and the even numbers from 90 to 98 have a 7.69% (3 in 39) probability of being chosen, while the even numbers from 86 to 88 and the odd numbers from 91 to 99 have a 5.13% (2 in 39) probability of being chosen. The number 100, the least probable number, has a mere 2.56% (1 in 39) chance of being chosen.

In all subsequent games, the random adjustment is determined by generating a 4 bit number (0 through 15). The computer then subtracts it from 100, and then divides the result by 100 to get the final adjustment. This results in the same integer percentage between 85% and 100%, with an even distribution of occurrence.

The damage dealt when a Pokmon uses a damaging move depends on its Attack or Special Attack stat, the opponent's corresponding Defense or Special Defense stat, and the move's base damage. In addition, the various circumstances explained above will also affect the damage dealt.

The damage formula is the following:

The result is rounded down as remainders are not kept. It is possible to do monstermmorpg monster Tempteras zero damage [1].

Imagine a level 75 Glaceon that has the following stats:

It uses the move Ice Fang (Ice, physical, base damage 65) against a level 78 Garchomp:

Garchomp is Dragon/Ground, so it has a double weakness to Ice. Thus, Type = 4. Additionally, Glaceon, being an Ice-type, receives STAB, so STAB = 1.5.

We then plug Modifier into the rest of the formula:

So depending on luck, Glaceon will do damage in the range 170-200 HP. Despite Garchomp's double weakness to Ice, Glaceon's Ice Fang will not defeat it in a single hit.

Garchomp is up next. Garchomp gets a critical hit (Critical = 2) on Earthquake, a physical Ground move with 100 base damage. With its Ice type, Glaceon is neither weak nor resistant to Garchomp's attack, so Type = 1. Garchomp is Dragon/Ground, so it receives STAB, making STAB = 1.5. Say that Garchomp is also holding an Earth Plate, which powers up Ground-type moves by 20%. Then Other = 1.2.

We insert the stats and Modifier in the formula and get:

We see that Garchomp's attack will http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Pokemon-Trainer-Creator do anywhere from 241 to 284 damage, which is more than enough to take the Glaceon out in one hit.

Wheel of Frontier (Japanese: ! Battle Arena! Fighting Showdown!!) is the 149th episode of the Advanced Generation series, and the 423rd episode of the Pokmon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on October 27, 2005 and in the United States on September 16, 2006.

Ash is in a Pokmon monster Foresaur Center getting psyched for his Battle Arena match when Scott calls to him from across the room. They talk for a few seconds, and Ash vows to get his next Frontier Symbol.

At the Battle Arena, dozens of men are being trained in karate-style moves by Greta. Team Rocket is also being trained with the group. They are fatigued from doing so many arm thrusts. An assistant yells at them because they stopped moving. For the next exercise, the group has to crouch with cups balanced on their heads Pokemon Fun Zone and shoulders. Team Rocket fall over and break their cups.

Meanwhile, Scott explains to Ash group about Greta and two of her Pokmon, Medicham and Hariyama. He points out the similarity to two Fighting-type Gym Leaders, Brawly and Chuck. The group exits the Pokmon Center, but Ash stops and contemplates Greta's Pokmon. Suddenly, he runs back into the Pokmon Center without any explanation.

Later, the group reaches the Battle Arena, and Ash yells "Hello." This doesn't work, so Scott goes up and shouts "We wish to have a battle". The giant doors open, and Greta and the people she was training (minus Team Rocket) emerge. Ash introduces himself and he and Greta get excited about the challenge. Suddenly, a giant roulette emerges from the ground that is meant to determine how many Pokmon will take part in the battle. Ash pulls the roulette lever, and the spinner lands Pokemon Comics on two.

Meanwhile, Jessie and Meowth look down at the group while James cleans the floor. Mime Jr. jumps over and imitates him, rubbing the floor. James tells Mime Jr. how cute it is.

A gong rings, and Ash and Greta prepare for their battle. The training group sits along the sidelines of the field, watching. Team Rocket pokes up behind them. Greta sends out Medicham and Hariyama, and Ash sends out Grovyle and Snorlax, who he retrieved from Professor Oak. May and Max are surprised to see that Ash has a Snorlax. Scott observes that Ash picked odd types of Pokmon to use against Fighting types.

Grovyle and Hariyama fight first. Grovyle sends out Bullet Seed, and Hariyama blocks. Hariyama charges at Grovyle, but Grovyle jumps into the air and shoots another Bullet Seed. Hariyama dodges and grabs Grovyle's leg to throw it on the ground before shoving it through the air, making it land on its back. Ash tells Grovyle to use Quick Attack and Hariyama goes to dodge, and Grovyle uses Leaf Blade twice. The first time knocks Hariyama back, but th
